# GeophysX > GeophysX is a free, browser-based well log viewer and petrophysics tool. It opens LAS, LIS, DLIS and WITSML well logs, plots them, and runs Python processing for petrophysical interpretation (shale volume, porosity, water saturation, lithology, pay zones). AI agents such as Claude Code, Codex, Gemini CLI, Grok Build and Cursor can drive it through its MCP server. Key facts: - Free, with no subscription and no installation. Opening and plotting files needs no account. A free account is needed only for the AI agent (MCP) token. - Files are processed locally in the browser and are not uploaded to a server. The exception is a connected AI agent: the data it reads is relayed to that agent and its AI provider. - Supported formats: LAS, LIS, DLIS (including multi-gigabyte files), WITSML 1.3.1.1 / 1.4.1.1 logs and trajectories. Files can be opened from disk or from a URL. - Processing runs in Python (Pyodide) in the browser. There is a catalogue of ready scripts, and users can write their own against the GeophysX Python API. - Any LAS/DLIS file reachable by URL can be embedded on another website as an interactive viewer with one iframe: `https://www.geophysx.net/app?embed=true&url=`. - App: https://www.geophysx.net/app ## Guides - [AI agents via MCP](https://www.geophysx.net/docs/ai-agents-mcp): connect Claude Code, Claude Desktop, Codex, Gemini CLI, Grok Build or Cursor. Server URL `https://www.geophysx.net/api/mcp`, header `Authorization: Bearer gpx_...` (token from Settings → AI agents (MCP)). The GeophysX tab must stay open, because the tools run in the browser. OAuth-only chat connectors (ChatGPT, grok.com, claude.ai web connectors) cannot connect yet. - [Well log plots](https://www.geophysx.net/docs/well-log-plots): build multi-track log plots (tracks, scales, fills, lithology columns) and export them as images. - [Export DLIS / LIS to LAS](https://www.geophysx.net/docs/export-dlis-to-las): convert DLIS or LIS files to LAS 2.0 in the browser. - [Depth matching well logs](https://www.geophysx.net/docs/depth-matching-well-logs): depth shift a logging run to a reference by gamma-ray tie points. - [Embed a well log viewer](https://www.geophysx.net/docs/embed-geophysical-files): add an interactive LAS, DLIS, LIS or WITSML viewer to any website with an iframe. - [Python API](https://www.geophysx.net/docs/python-api): reference for writing your own processing scripts (curves, arrays, interval sets). ## Processing catalogue - [All scripts](https://www.geophysx.net/docs/scripts): the full catalogue, with a page per script. - [Shale volume (Larionov)](https://www.geophysx.net/docs/scripts/larionov-shale-volume) - [Density porosity](https://www.geophysx.net/docs/scripts/density-porosity) - [Archie water saturation](https://www.geophysx.net/docs/scripts/archie-water-saturation) - [Net pay and pay zones](https://www.geophysx.net/docs/scripts/net-pay-zones) - [Lithology](https://www.geophysx.net/docs/scripts/lithology) - [Mineral volumes](https://www.geophysx.net/docs/scripts/mineral-volumes) - [Crossplot](https://www.geophysx.net/docs/scripts/crossplot) - [Formula calculator](https://www.geophysx.net/docs/scripts/formula-calculator) - [LAS exporter](https://www.geophysx.net/docs/scripts/las-exporter) - [CSV exporter](https://www.geophysx.net/docs/scripts/csv-exporter) - [Well trajectory 3D](https://www.geophysx.net/docs/scripts/well-trajectory-3d) ## Optional - [About and FAQ](https://www.geophysx.net/): overview, features, privacy and supported formats. - [YouTube demos](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ibtY8BHxrns): AI well log interpretation from a LAS file to a report in one prompt.
